Phoslo is a drug that’s given orally and consists of calcium acetate. The drug is prescribed to patients with end stage renal disease. In addition, Phoslo is given to patients with kidney disease. The drug is used to control blood phosphate. Calcium acetate connects to phosphate in the diet in order to lower the levels of blood phosphate.

How the Drug Works?
Phoslo is used to decrease phosphate levels in patients that are dealing with late stage kidney failure. In addition, the medication is a mineral that works to prevent the intestines and stomach from absorbing phosphate into the body.

Side Effects of the Drug
Most medicines will have some type of side effect associated with taking the medication. Some people who take Phoslo will experience little to no side effects. Upset stomach or nausea is a common side effect of taking Phoslo. If you continue to experience side effects from using the drug then you should contact a doctor.
